Positive Parenting Session ( For Parents of Class 5-7)

Positive Parenting "SUPPORTING YOUR EARLY ADOLESCENCE DURING THE CHALLENGING LIFE STAGE" -For parents of class 5 to 7 Ms. Roslin Richard & Ms. Maria Reena 5 th February 2023 St. Joseph 's School- CBSE A seminar on Positive Parenting, with the topic "Supporting your early adolescence during the challenging life stage" was conducted for Parents of class 5-7 of St. Joseph's School-CBSE, Bengaluru, on 11th February 2023, Saturday at SJIPS Auditorium between 8.30am and 10.30am. Our resource for the seminar was Ms.Roslin Richard - an Educational Psychologist, Graphologist and the in house school counselor of St. Joseph's School-CBSE, Bengaluru and by Ms. Maria Reena - a Clinical Psychologist and the in house Special Educator of St. Joseph's School-CBSE, Bengaluru. The registration was between 8.30am and 9am, there were around 180 participants who took part in the seminar , and the session started at 9.00am sharp with the prayer Ms. Monica Jennifer. The resource person Ms. Roslin Richard spoke about the topic on "Supporting Your Early Adolescence During the Challenging Life Stage" for around one hour 10 minutes, the session started with "know your early adolescent", the session focused on how will my child change between the ages of 10 and 13? focusing on the 3 main changes like Physical Growth & Developmental Changes, Emotional Developmental Changes, Cognitive Developmental Changes are being discussed and guided. Then with the following questions as What can I do to be a good parent for my early adolescent child? How can I communicate better with my child? How much independence should I give my child? How can I help my child to become more confident? How can I help my child to form good friendships? What can I do to keep the media from being a bad influence on my child? What's the best way for me as a parent to stay involved in my child's school activities? How can I tell-and what can I do-if I feel my child is having a serious problem, what should I do? It was a very interactive session , parents were very active in sharing their experiences. The next part of the session was handled by Ms. Maria Reena, which focused on what is cyber bullying, cyber security and tips on parental guidelines on how to control usage of gadgets and addiction. Cyber security awareness involves being mindful of cyber security in day-to-day situations. Being aware of the dangers of browsing the web, checking email and interacting online are all components of cyber security awareness. The session also focused on delivering the appropriate training to the parents building cyber security awareness tips that motivates lasting behavior change in children and parents. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Ms.Akrockia Deepa. Many parents gave the feedback that the seminar was very informative and useful.
