Positive Parenting Session ( For Parents of Class 8-11)

Positive Parenting "Understanding your teens to build their confidence and resilience" -For parents of class 8 to 11 Ms.Roslin Richard & Ms.Maria Reena 5 th February 2023 St. Joseph's School- CBSE A seminar on Positive Parenting, with the topic "Understanding your teens to build their confidence and resilience" was conducted for parents of class 8 to 11 of St. Joseph's School-CBSE, Bengaluru, on 5 th February 2023, Saturday at SJIPS Auditorium between 10.30am and 12.30am. Our resource for the seminar was Ms.Roslin Richard - an educational Psychologist, Graphologist and the in house school counselor of St. Joseph's School-CBSE, Bengaluru and Ms. Maria Reena- a Clinical Psychologist and the in house Special Educator of St. Joseph's School-CBSE, Bengaluru. The registration was between 10.30am and 11am, there were around 240 participants who took part in the seminar and the session started at 11 am sharp with the prayer by Ms.Divya Paul. Ms. Roslin Richard spoke about the "Understanding your teens to build their confidence and resilience" for around one hour 10 minutes, the session started with defining who is an adolescent, stages of adolescence, Eric Erickson's Psychosocial Developmental stage. The session was focused on: How To help your children navigate adolescence, positive relations parents who also knows to say NO- called as Vitamin N, then on what is confidence, Why building confidence is important for pre-teens and teenagers, Children needs to bounce back hence given few tips on developing how all teenagers can build resilience, Social skills for resilience, also strategies to improve concentration in children in which they are struggling at, the session also focused on how parents can support their child during exams, study schedule and their routine, why psychological well-being is so important, how parents can support children on the day of the exam, after the exam is over, at the time of the results guidelines were also shared. Part-2 of the session was handled by Ms. Maria Reena, the session was focused on what is cyber bullying, cyber security and tips on parental guidelines on how to control usage of gadgets and addiction. Cyber security awareness involves being mindful of cyber security in day-to-day situations. Being aware of the dangers of browsing the web, checking email and interacting online are all components of cyber security awareness. The session ended by delivering the appropriate training to the parents building cyber security awareness tips that motivates lasting behavior change in children and parents. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Ms.Sufia. Many parents gave the feedback that the seminar was very informative and useful. focusing on strokes, Supporting social and emotional development in adolescence, made them realise what is their language of love, why focusing on positivity is so healthy , children needs
