Teachers Day

September 05, 2020

"Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if 5th September is observed as Teachers' Day": Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishna.
This request by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishna soon turned into a legacy that's celebrated throughout the country. Teachers' Day is commemorated in order to thank and pay respect to the contribution of teachers in our lives on 5th of every September.
This year, we marked the 58th Teachers' day through a very unique and special kind of celebration. Due to the pandemic, a one of a kind online Teachers' Day Celebration was conducted and aired from the campus of St. Joseph's School CBSE.
The celebrations began at 9.30 AM in the school Quadrangle which was bedecked with a visual feast of kaleidoscopic rangolis. Our beloved Principal Rev. Fr. Rohan D Almeida, along with the Teachers' day committee, Physical education teachers, admin and support staff were present for the celebration. The celebrations began on a poignant note with the offering of flowers to the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishna. This was closely followed by a brief introduction of Teachers' day by one of our teachers. The celebrations were taken up a few notches higher when our principal delivered a profound speech on the meaning and significance of Teachers' day.
The celebrations included a thoughtful prayer from our Admin staff, followed by a very impressive speech given by the head boy on the meaning and significance of Teacher's day. The entire occasion was studded with golden nuggets from various departments: A small video presentation by the PTA members, cultural programmes performed by the students of Pre-primary, Primary and High School, and a melodious performance by the ensemble choir team. But perhaps the creme de la creme of the entire celebrations was the creative ways in which our tiny tots joined along with higher grade students and wished their teachers. The day wouldn't have been complete without the teachers participating in a fun filled online-games organized and acknowledging them with e-certificates for the remembrance of this day.
The bedazzling spectacle finally concluded with a vote of thanks by the assistant Head Girl.
