IGNATIAN WEEK

July 30, 2020

"He who carries God in his heart, bears Heaven with him wherever he goes" - St Ignatius of Loyola It does not matter where we are, as long as God is with us! True to the above words of St Ignatius of Loyola, our Founder, our school was quick to respond and adapt to the new situation of imparting quality education to students. In view of holistic development of the person or Cura Personalis as instructed by the Jesuit ideals, we at St Joseph's School planned to encourage not only students but even parents and staff as well to celebrate the Ignatian Week with a difference this year owing to changing situations and turn of events as we encounter the onslaught of Corona Pandemic globally. The glorious tradition of celebrating the feast of St Ignatius of Loyola by initiating week long activities, novenas and competitions was not sidelined this year, instead it aimed at enriching and imbibing Ignatian values in each Josephite in a different way. A plethora of competitions was organised for students like Drawing, Colouring the portrait of St Ignatius, Poster Making, Collage Making and Quiz. Even the parents were encouraged to participate in various competitions like Singing, Poetry, Video Presentation, Poster Making and Painting. The teachers were encouraged to participate in a theme-based Family Selfie Contest, Essay Writing and Quiz. In order to know more about the teachings and life of the Founder, 3 videos were presented by the Ignatian Week Committee, each video enabled the Josephites to be enriched in Jesuit values and ideals. Nine days prior to the feast, a quote by the founder was posted by Bro. Mark each day as part of novena as 'Ignatian Insights'. A Webinar for the Staff was organised on the theme 'Relevance of Ignatian Insights to our Context' by Fr Jossie D'Mello SJ on 25th of July. On the feast day of St Ignatius of Loyola, a special Prayer Service was live streamed at 9.00 am in YouTube. The festive joy culminated in the live streaming of Festal Mass on Youtube at 11.00 am celebrated by Rev Fr Jerome Stanislaus D'Souza SJ, the Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit Province. The message by Rev Fr Joseph Rodrigues SJ, the Rector of SJII was uploaded in the official YouTube channel. It was truly inspiring to celebrate this year's feast of the Founder.
