Parent Orientation Program

"Family is the first school for young children and parents are powerful models"- Alice Sterling Honig" Two sessions of parent orientation session was held in the SJIHS Auditorium on 3 June 2023. Session 1 was from 8.30am to 10am for class LKG to Class 4 and Session 2 was held from 11am to 12.30pm. The Master of Ceremony Ms Annie began by welcoming the Principal, Vice-Principal and the coordinators on the stage. The session began with lighting the lamp by chief guest and Principal Fr Rohan D'Almeida, Vice- Principal, Sr Sheena Joseph, Ms Jennifer the co-ordinator of class 1 to 5 and Ms Poornima Krupa, the co-ordinator og Pre-Primary. Ms Jennifer Bernard, the Coordinator introduced the newly appointed Vice-principal to the gathering and our Principal Fr Rohan D'Almeida felicitated her with a sapling. Ms Rachel introduced the speaker of the day Fr Rohan. After which Father Principal spoke about the Ignitian way of learning and teaching to build a society which includes all classes of persons. He also introduced the various coordinators of the school who support and help the students to be the best at their studies and give them guidance in their day-to-day activities. He also presented the vision and mission of the school which guides the school into the ethos it has today. 'Fide et Labore' in Latin which means Faith and Toil. At the school the management is committed to teach the students to work hard and keep faith in themselves, other human beings and God and then toil to achieve their goals. He added that value, moral based and the 21st century skills will help the students to deal with various problems in life. Value based education such as Conscience which includes moral character, human values and knowing society and its imbalances, Competence which includes Science and Technology and humanity studies, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, commitment and collaboration. A short activity was conducted by Ms Juanita the Physical Educator of the School. After which she continued to explain the rules and regulations of the school where she said that it is important that the child learns to follow the rules and regulations set forth by the school. She explained that the school uniform should be neat and tidy, ID cards have to be worn and the clubs and their activities which are conducted in the school during and after the school hours. Fr Rohan continued the session by talking about the fee payment system in the school and importance of modern day parenting with their wards. He concluded the session by welcoming the parents to join the Parent Teacher Association and take keen interest in the schools activities. "Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things a human can do for each other" Ms Maria Reena, Special Educator delivered the vote of thanks. She thanked all the staff of SJS and parents for their cooperation and support in conducting the program and making it a successful one and also the Coordinators Ms Roslin, the program coordinator and Ms Selvi, Program coordinator for their meticulous planning. A short video was presented by Mr Stephan on the schools activities and testimonials by students and parents. Refreshments was served after the session.
