Positive Parenting Session

St. Joseph's School CBSE Bangalore organised a Positive Parenting session was on 5th October 2024 for parents of 6 to Class 12 in the SJIPS Auditorium from 8:30 am to 12 pm in 2 sessions. The sessions began with a warm welcome and a short prayer followed by the introduction and felicitation of the Resource Person for the day Ms. Gowri Mirlay Achanta, Head of the History Department at St. Joseph's Boys' High School, Bangalore. She, with nearly four decades of teaching experience and her innovative methods, has shaped the academic and personal growth of countless students.
The session emphasized culturally specific parenting, focusing on identity, self-love, and overall well-being for both parents and children. It highlighted the importance of self-care to stay calm and energetic, enabling stronger connections with children through small gestures and effective communication. Parents were encouraged to choose the right moments to engage with teenagers and to negotiate where possible. Addressing concerns like gadget addiction and reluctance to study, the session recommended creating a study timetable with children and ensuring consistent follow-through on promises and consequences.
In conclusion, the session stressed the significance of self-care and communication for effective parenting. Building trust and maintaining open dialogue with children fosters discipline and strengthens relationships.
