"A nations culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people." - Mahatma Gandhi The Republic Day celebration at St Joseph's School was conducted with great enthusiasm and patriotism on January 24th 2025. The Principal Fr Rohan D'Almeida, Vice Principal Sr Sheena Joseph, coordinators Ms Nirmala Briggs, Ms Jennifer Bernard and Ms Roopa Roy, teachers and students gathered to honour this significant day in India's history.
The program commenced with a tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution by showering flowers on his portrait as a mark of respect. As a symbolic gesture to reinforce the values enshrined in the Constitution, students collectively recited the Preamble. This was a poignant moment that reminded everyone of their responsibilities as citizens of India.
A soulful prayer was rendered invoking divine blessings and setting a solemn and respectful tone for the program. A student representative delivered a speech on the significance of the 76th Republic Day, emphasizing the importance of the Constitution, the sacrifices of freedom fighters, and the need to uphold democratic values. One of the highlights of the event was a patriotic skit performed by the students. The skit depicted the drafting of the Constitution. The performance was met with great appreciation from the audience. The Principal, Fr Rohan D'Almeida addressed the gathering, by emphasizing the 3S, R&D of the Preamble which is committed to justice, equality and liberty for the people.
As a delightful conclusion to the event, the school also celebrated the birthday of the Vice
Principal, Sr Sheena Joseph. A toast was raised in honour of Sr Sheena and the dignitaries, staff and students extended their heartfelt wishes to the Vice Principal, making the day even more special.
The Republic Day celebration concluded with the singing of the national anthem, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of patriotism and unity.
