Positive Parenting Session

September 30, 2023

"We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
A workshop for parents of Classes 6 to 8 was held by our School on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 8.30 am to 10 am in the SJIPS Auditorium. The positive parenting workshop has a cybercrime and cybersecurity focus in order to assist parents to better comprehend their children and accompany them on their journeys. Mr. Muralidhar Koteshwar, an engineering graduate from IIT-M after having spent 3 decades in the corporate world, is now the CEO of Uplad and SimpliTrain, Chief advisor at Pod.Ai, Director of Connecting the Dots, Founding Secretary of the Advanced Computing Society of India. With the inevitable usage of digital devices and the internet, Mr. Muralidhar launched right into the issue of "Cyber Crime and Cyber Security," which is the most significant challenge faced by parents and teachers. He emphasized the need of building good relationships with adolescents that are founded on trust so that they may turn to us as parents for support when things are difficult. He also emphasized the necessity to instil in them the idea that there is no other way to achievement than hard work and that anything that comes naturally should be regarded with suspicion. Mr. Muralidhar continued by describing how the initial motivations for cybercrime were primarily monetary gain and disruption. Cyberstalking, which mostly comprises using the internet or telecom to stalk, send unwelcome, provocative, or sexual comments, publish explicit photos, solicit, or harass, is one of the many illicit actions that make up cybercrime today.
The audience's attention was attracted to a crucial point, which was that teenagers do not always end up as victims. A few gifted youngsters unknowingly commit cybercrime while remaining ignorant of its legal repercussions. As parents, it is our responsibility to enforce parental restrictions regarding the use of devices and the many apps that allow us to keep an eye on our children's online activity.
Additionally, Mr. Muralidhar informed the parents of the different legal options available to prosecute offenders. Finally, he emphasized how important it is to inform and warn our kids about how to use the internet safely.
The demands of parents of young teenagers and how to keep them safe from numerous frauds, phishing attacks, and other online criminal activities were covered in this extremely interesting seminar.
The parents were extremely delighted the way the points were presented and expressed by the speaker of the day. A few parents shared their thoughts aloud as
"The workshop was highly educational and useful, allowing us to counsel our kids on cyber security-related topics. I ask the authorities to set up a similar lesson for the youngsters to teach them about the advantages and disadvantages of technology and cyber security. Says Mr. Anish parent of Adwaith of class IX C
"The discussion was fascinating and quite educational. We are going to apply the advice presented in our daily lives. I'm grateful. Opined by Guruji parent of G Joshua 'VI A'
