Staff Christmas Celebration

December 22, 2023

'Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ was born on Christmas day, And man will live forever more because of Christmas day This well-known Carol sums up the essence of Christmas. God became Man so that we become Divine. Christmas is the season of joy, love and sharing. At St. Joseph's the preparations start in the beginning of December as the entire campus gets decked up with Christmas glitter, classrooms are decorated and it culminates with three celebrations. Two for students and one for the staff. This year we had on 21st celebration for students of grades 3 to 12 and on the 22nd for pupils of kindergarten to grade 2. The annual staff Christmas party is as established a festive tradition as making a crib. On the 23rd of December, a get-together was organised for all the staff in the Board Room. At 9.15 the faculty had gathered in the Board Room which was aptly decorated with Christmas colours, the wreath, candles and stars. All faculty members were very excited and full of enthusiasm for the celebration. The three kings on their search to find the Baby Jesus had reached our school and were the host for the event. The programme commenced with the prayer service conducted by Ms Shashi and the theme. This was followed by the melodious carol singing by the choir, it included a rhythmic performance by the choir that brought alive the Spirit of Christmas with a few traditional Christmas Carols and a few new tunes and an add-on surprise package by Santa Claus This was followed by the principal's address to the teachers. In his message Fr. Rohan D'Almedia voiced that the purpose of Christmas is to focus on the central figure Jesus whose name means Immanuel (God with us) Christmas carries the message that God loves each of us. The birth of Jesus is the meeting of Divinity and Humanity. We too are called upon to be truly Human and manifest the Divine nature within us. We need to grow in divinity. It is a lifelong struggle. Jesus is the personification of this struggle. So Jesus needs to become a model for us in becoming ' Vishwa Manava' a Universal Being. The principal also thanked the teachers for their role in helping numerous students to incarnate God in their life in other words to become men and women for others. The most awaited moment of exchange of gift had finally come. Embodying the spirit of Christmas - Giving each one greeted their Christ Child with the Christmas greeting and gift. The faculty was completely spellbound with the Christmas gratification and the day was called off with a hearty Dinner. The purpose behind this celebration was to boost the morale, and build team spirit seemed to have been very well accomplished through the event.
